about us
We are Linda Schirmel and Nicole Kiersz both textile designers and in love with everything related to traditional craft and process oriented work. Observing and narrating stories and knowledge through textiles, photography and film is something we do share in our individual work. We decided in 2020 to bring our work together by founding our little studio schirm & strauch based in the middle of St.Pauli / Hamburg in the shared artist studio called 8.salon.
At the moment we are working on our first research based project in collaboration with Studio HILO / Berlin and with the financial support by Claussen - Simon -Stiftung / Hamburg.
We hope to share with you soon our first results made with the HILO spinning system and our first textile samples made out of regional sheep and alpaca fibers that are interwoven and interknitted together.
